Clear Your Counters!
We don’t know about you, but for us, sometimes it seems like an impossible feat to keep our kitchens organized. With many of us having a plethora of kitchen appliances, cutlery, and more, it can be difficult to find space for everything we have, especially in small kitchens. Luckily for you (and for us), we have figured out some easy ways to clear countertop space in our kitchens. Keep reading to find out how.
Maximize Drawer Space- Organizing your drawers in a space-saving manner is a great way to keep items off of the countertops. We like storing our spices in drawers, as well as our cutlery (minus knives) in drawer organizers. In addition to maximizing drawer space, we recommend taking advantage of the cabinet beneath the sink and using that to store kitchen cleaning supplies and/or tupperware.
- We like adding command hooks to the back of our cabinet doors for more storage. These hooks can be used to hang measuring cups, bottle openers, and anything else that can be hung up.
- The wall behind your stove and countertops can also serve as storage. Here at Schmidt Brothers Cutlery, we know that countertop storage can be hard to come by, so we have a solution to that problem (and it is eye-catching & sleek). Our Magnetic Wall Bar hangs on the wall and allows for you to store your knives out in the open (plus, it is a perfect eye-catching way to store your knives). In addition to using a magnetic wall bar to save countertop space, we also recommend hanging up a rack below your microwave or above your stove. Here, you can place items that will conveniently be within arms reach while cooking, such as olive oil and spices.
- SBC Note: We never recommend storing your knives in drawers, due to the possibility of them getting scratched, dulling, or breaking. Instead, we love using one of our smart storage solutions for storing your knives in a sleek and space-saving way. If you prefer a more traditional storage solution, our Downtown and Midtown Magnetic Knife Blocks are great for storing your knives on the countertop, and they do not take up much space.
- Have multiple pairs of tongs or ladles? We recommend getting rid of what you do not need and/or do not use. Purging your kitchen of things that you do not actively use on a regular basis will allow you to make room for the things that actually matter to you. Bouncing off of this, it is wise to go through your pantry, fridge, and freezer weekly and get rid of all of the food items you have had for a while that are either half-eaten or unopened. A good rule of thumb is that if you don’t use an item within one month, you may be unlikely to use it in the future, so get rid of it!
We hope these tips will help you organize your kitchen! Have any tips we didn’t share? Leave us a comment!
